Designer Babies? Three Parent’s Embryo.

The stem cell research debate has been going on for years but recently, a new discovery has emerged from the initial stem cell research. Three Parent’s Embryo. This technology creates an embryo by combining DNAs from three different individuals. Supporters of this discovery claims that it’s a possible method to minimize the chances of newborns contracting diseases/ disabilities while detractors are against it as it might lead to selectivity.

Will this lead to a homogeneous breed of humans in the future?
That’s a thought that came into my mind. We want the best for our kids and thus there is a possibility that such technology might be abused to infuse future offspring with desired traits. This, in the run long, might lead to homogeneity when people are able to purchase desirable DNA and combine it with theirs to create the “perfect” offspring.  However, when “originality” comes into play, will people be comfortable with their child not being 100% them?

The debate is always on going and there are many differing views regarding issue on manufacturing life. No one knows what the future holds and the endless possibilities that will unfold as time passes. Ethics vs desirability, what is your take?
