“Dog FOUND” owner FOUND

Case Closed!

In this post, I’ll be sharing the Overview and Provide some tips when a dog is found.

Overview :

First of all I’m truly grateful to everyone who has assisted in helping Silky( the dog’s name) find her owner! I’m really impressed by the wonders of Social Media. The status on the “Dog FOUND” was shared over 100 times in just over 2 days!  It’s heart warming to see people whom I’ve never met before coming out to assist me from sharing to advising. A lady whom I met even lend me her dog’s leash and taught me some basic skills in identifying and handling of dogs.

Apparently, the owner is a neighbor of mine who lives in the same block. No wonder Silky seem familiar with the block. This was the situation. The owner was expecting Silky to return home as this wasn’t the first time Silky ventured out on her own. A probable reason why Silky went out this time is because her companion (another dog of the owner) recently passed away due to cancer .  Thus, afraid of being lonely, Silky came up to my house wanting to seek companionship since no one is home.

Tips :

1) Was advised by some of my friends who owns a dog that steam rice will be a good option as we don’t know the dog’s diet
2) Check the hygiene/nails. It can be an indication of how long the dog have been missing.
3) Bring the dog out for a walk to see whether is it guiding you to any place.
4) Ask dog owners around the surroundings. Who knows they might have been the dog before
5) Fill up the lost/found form on the SPCA website. They can match the “lost” cases with the “found”
6) Place posters around your neighborhood

Things I’ve learned about Silky:

Breed: Silky Terrier
Age: ~10
Characteristics:
1) Attention seeking
– Peep at me occasionally wanting me to bring her out and will prevent me from going out without her.
2) Curious dog
– Always follows me when I make any movements
3) Out door toilet trained
– She’ll look for me to bring her down when she wants to do her business. If I didn’t, she do it wherever she likes. Sigh.
4) Active and strong
– She barged through the card door which we used as a barricade to confine her initially. It didn’t work so we gave up and let her roam around

Rearing a dog is fun but it’s not easy and requires a lot of commitment.
